Dresden – where culture meets nature

In Dresden, there is no shortage of things to discover and experience: The capital of Saxony offers an exceptionally great variety of art and architecture as well as cultural and recreational activities. The many historical (overwhelmingly Baroque) buildings of the Old Town form the unmistakable cityscape of Dresden directly along the Elbe. Dresden Neustadt is a trendy neighborhood known for its many bars, small shops and galleries. Numerous parks, the broad banks of the river Elbe and spacious greens dominate the cityscape and make it ideal for relaxing, walks and exercise. Dresden’s own Erich Kästner, a well-known author, described his hometown in the following words: “Dresden is a triad of history, culture and nature.”

And Dresden’s surroundings boast a variety of landscapes and attractions that are perfect for day trips or weekend excursions: the Elbe Valley with its vineyards, Swiss Saxony and its bizarre rock formations, the Ore Mountains as well as many palaces, castles and parks.
